The traceability of things is an ethical policy of contemporaneity. It has even been regulated within the ISO 9000 Standards. This is so because things – and images – do not count their motives by themselves. Its origin, its materiality and trade are not immediately evident within them; an image or product.
At the same time, it is no less true that decomposing something (object or image) does not reveal the emotional bond that it can generate or host. The problem here is that mobilizing emotions is very profitable.
So how do we articulate the micro and the macro? In a digital atlas where the images are almost infinite, prophylactic and short-lived; looking again, turning them into (pictorial) matter and relating them to dissimilar images is a way of generating a map or navigable route.
It is about involving the image again within the dangerous field of materiality, contamination and the reproduction of daily life. Only then does one understand to what extent one has to zoom in or out for an image to remain desirable. Rudimento is pleased to present errandt, Antonio López’s first solo exhibition.
